Trust me, we have ALL been there! It's all fun and games, until it's not! Whether you still have kiddos at home or you're playing with grandkids this summer, it is more and more difficult to keep their brains engaged and creativity flowing. We know they want to watch endless tv or play on electronic devices. I personally believe that some of that is completely fine. However, it is vital that we also keep their brains active! I have been doing this very thing with my own kids for years. I would buy a notebook and then struggle every night to think up new questions for them to answer the next day. I finally decided I needed to put it into print and make MY life easier (as every summer I kept having to reinvent the same wheel!)
Here is the fun part, I LOVE reading their answers! At first, they may try to scribble a quick answer to 'check the box' What I have found is the more they write, the more interested they are in writing and the longer their responses become! This can be fun for them and YOU!
These journals are great for kids that are able to read and write, so, the beginning age will vary and go all the way up to pre-teen/early teen years. I would say the 'perfect' age for these specific journals are likely 8-13yo. Each child is different and honestly, this is one of those 'required fun' activities around my house. I promise, if they hesitate at first, they'll eventually get sucked in to allowing their imaginations to go wild!
